Roy McCracken

1937 ~ 2013
Roy LaMar McCracken, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away the night of Dec. 4, 2013 in Murray, Utah from complications due to a stroke. He was 76 years old. Roy was born on Nov. 7, 1937 in Great Falls, Montana to William M. and Helen Dolan McCracken. He married Nancy Brown Sept. 15, 1961 in Rigby, Idaho. Roy was a CPA most of his professional life and loved his work. He was an owner and founding partner of a successful CPA firm in Eugene, Oregon. He graduated from Montana State College in Bozeman, Montana in 1963 with a degree in accounting and also served 2 years in the Army. He loved his grandchildren, golf, jazz music, and flying. As a musician, he played multiple instruments in several jazz groups over the years. He mainly played the drums and even had his own jazz group the Roy LaMar Trio. He had never learned to play piano though and was currently teaching himself to play. His love for flying was also great and for a while had his pilots license for small aircraft. Roy lived in Eugene, Oregon for 38 years before moving to Murray, Utah in 2006. While in Eugene, Oregon he was active in a number of community organizations.
He is survived by his wife Nancy, daughter Michelle McCracken, son Randall McCracken(Andrea Hebert), grandchildren Connlan, Rhedyn, Brodric, and brother Don McCracken(Gloria).
Burial will be Wednesday Dec. 11, 2013 10 am at the Murray City Cemetery 5600 South Vine St. Memorial services and celebration of his life will follow at 11 am at the Willow Creek Country Club 8505 Willow Creek Drive, Sandy, Utah. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice in memory of Roy McCracken.
