Roy “Possum” Posey, 66, passed from this world into his heavenly home on the 12th of February, 2023. A funeral service will be held Friday, February 17, 2023, at the First Baptist Church in Knox City with Clifton McFadden officiating. A visitation is planned for Thursday, February 16, 2023 at the Smith Family Funeral Home in Knox City from 6:00PM to 7:00PM, 210 Ave. A. Burial will follow in the Rochester Cemetery, services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Roy was born April 18, 1956, in Knox City, TX to Laurie (Gunnels) and Ophus Posey. He was a faithful employee of Hunt Oil for 26 years. He was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Knox City.
He leaves behind a loving wife and mother of his children Fran Posey who stood by him throughout his battle with stage 4 COPD; daughter, Kim Posey Garcia of Abilene, Texas; son, Joey Posey and wife Dacia of Rochester, Texas; son-in-law, Paul Garcia of Abilene, Texas; six grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Tanner Posey, Jewel Pineda and Liberty Dolloff all of Rochester, Texas, Gavin Garcia and Gracie Garcia (papaw’s Nae Nae) of Abilene, Texas and Lainie Rowden and husband Dusty of Lubbock, Texas; siblings, Gary and Nancy Posey, Sam and Rea McFadden, Rick and Linda Vaughn, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Laurie and Ophus Posey; siblings, Johnny and Pat Wilson, Nita Posey and Bonnie Posey.
(A Special Note from Possum) I personally want to thank all of you for playing an integral part of my life! Thank you Fran for standing by me through it all. I love each and everyone of you for your support during the last days of my life. Words can never repay you for your love and kindness. My hope is that God richly blesses you for your generosity. I’ll see you all again soon. As for our next home will be with our Heavenly Father Jesus Christ!! Hope to see you all there until then I’ll be waiting for you!! Love you all so very much, Roy

God bless Roy Posey & his family! He talked with us about his illness & it’s effect on him & his family! He seemed to have a great attitude & relationship with his Maker ! All this has been a great example for all ! God bless Roy & his family ! Rest knowing he is better now
