I remember our trip to visit Roy in Los Angeles in 1968. When we left, he gave me a salt and pepper shaker set of a bull fighter and a bull. I still have it. I also remember his visits to Minnesota, especially at several of my brothers' softball games. He was a good guy and he looked a lot like my dad which was very comforting. Rest In Peace Uncle Roy!

Roy was 8 years older than me. He left our house new years day 1940 to go west to Los Angeles to work in the aircraft factories. I was only 11 years old when he left. I remember him from those years as a body builder always lifting weights made out of 2 pails filled with concrete and a pipe between them. He would hold his chest out and tell me to hit him as hard as I could with my fist. He didn,t even flinch. I got to know him better after world war 2. I took a lot of trips to L A to visit him. He was a great and I'm lucky that he was my brother.

In the summer of 1980 my brother Tom and I rode our bicycles out to California to see Howie/Alice and others and after going as far as we could (San Diego) we hopped a Greyhound to El Paso and visited Roy. His big scheme at this time was the Jojoba Plant. He was growing acres of them for the oil which was going to be of great value some day. I wonder if he cashed in on that one. Anyway, we stayed at his place for a few days, it had an intercom system although he lived alone and a nice swimming pool which we were happy to utilize often. He cooked for us and did the shopping for a couple of lady friends in his neighborhood. He was a boisterous, cowboy hat wearin', big car drivin' dude at the time and he drove us all the way home to St. Paul in a huge car, maybe a Cadillac, and this was just about as

much fun as the bike trip itself. When we pulled into the driveway at 2708 Harvester we had a party and Roy stayed with us for a few days. He fixed some stuff at my mom's house and then went back to El Paso where more money making ideas were likely hatched. He was a fun Uncle who we didn't see enough of.

I enjoyed Uncle Roy a lot the times that we visited with him. I remember how nice he was to Jamie when we were stuck in the basement at Uncle Ed's and Aunt Joan's house because of a tornado warning.
