Marilyn, our condolences to you and your family. You do not know me; but Roy and I were in the same class at CHS. He was an outstanding young man at that time; and continued on throughout his life; and now his soul is with the Lord. May Christ comfort you as you mourn his passing.

A real gentleman, a friend and a classmate of mine. We were both class officers and I enjoyed talking with him at our last reunion. We played baseball together in high school for many years. He will be missed. Don Meyer, Ponte Vedra Beach, Fl.

Have just read about Roy. He was one of the best neighbors Harrison Lake ever had and we were lucky to be one of them. A truly good person. We are sorry for the family's loss.

I am very sorry to hear about Roy's death. Roy was the true definition of integrity and a very good person in every way. I worked for Roy for many years and considered him a friend as well as my supervisor. I have the utmost respect for him and consider it a privilege to have worked for and with him. Given his tremendous faith, I know the Lord has a special place for him.
Respectfully,
Larry Rumph

Bob and Sarah,

Martie and I are very sorry for your loss. Your dad was a very warm and kind person, even when we were being knuckleheads (in our youth).

My first memories of Roy involve baseball. Before he played on the Columbus Merchants he played on a Little League team coached by Gene Dickey. Two of his teammates were My brother Bob Buckner and my future husband Charlie. At that time he was known as Dick. After games the team almost always convened at my home for watermelon. I was a few years younger and looked up to those guys, though I was the foil for much teasing. Then they later played for the Merchants and the watermelon tradition continued. I remember thinking then that Roy , though fun-loving, was very kind. As we all grew older I never changed my opinion of him. A loving and much-loved man. I'm so glad to have known him. My sympathy to Marilyn and the rest of the family. God bless you.
