Roy Starnes Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 13, 2025.
On the morning of Saturday, July 5, 2025, the day before his 72nd birthday-Roy Odell Starnes peacefully departed this life and entered into the presence of the Lord.

Born in Riverside, California on July 6, 1953, Roy was one of thirteen children lovingly raised by Bessie and William Starnes. As a brother to nine sisters and three brothers, Roy shared a life rich with deep family bonds. His strength made him beloved by his siblings and extended family alike.

Roy built a life marked by devotion to his family and his work. He is survived by his wife Debbie of Fort Mohave, Arizona, and his five children: Marty (Leni), Missy (Josh), Justin (Jenny), Luke, and Amber. He was a proud grandfather to Mitchell, Matthew, Kaegy, Evan, and Owen; and a beloved uncle to 38 nieces and nephews.

Over the course of his 30-year career with the Metropolitan Water District, Roy built more than just infrastructure-he built friendships, trust, and a legacy of craftsmanship. Beginning as a carpenter and retiring as a construction project manager, he could build a home from the ground up and fix just about anything.

He worked hard, loved harder, and found time almost every day to sit with his Bible. His discipline and deep belief were guiding lights not only in his own life but also for those blessed to know him. For this, and for so much more, we take comfort knowing he is resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

"Ol' Roy," as he was affectionately known, leaves behind a legacy of humility, warmth, and unwavering love. He made his footprint on this world, he made a difference, and his life mattered. His absence will be deeply felt-but his memory, and the love he gave so freely, will live on in all of us.

Rest well, Roy. Until we meet again.
