Twenty three years ago, my father passed away. Mr Uplinger came to the memorial service. This meant a lot to me. Mr Uplinger was a remarkable man, inside and outside of the classroom.

Sadly, Mr. Uplinger left us 7 years ago. But I find comfort in 2 Peter 3 which says, with the Lord a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years are like a day.

Mr. Uplinger was my Algebra I teacher in the 8th grade and my Algebra II teacher in the 9th grade in the early 70's at Edison Junior High School. Those were the days. He was a terrific person. I have nothing but fond memories of him. He was one of the best teachers I ever had, even through college and medical school. I just found out yesterday about his passing. I am very sad.

Roy was so kind to so many including my parents--especially in their last years in the nursing home. He visited them frequently and spoon-fed many meals to my dad when his Parkinson's disease made his hands shake violently. I'm sure there is a special place in heaven for him!

So sorry to hear of Mr. Uplinger's passing.
My family and I got to know Mr. Uplinger at the Heritage Place in Squirrel Hill. My father in law was a patient in the room across the hall from him. We grew very fond of him during the month that we were there. He would always be out in the hall watching what was going on and cheerfully greeting us as we came in. We enjoyed many conversations with him and seeing him almost everyday. God Bless you and your family as you mourn his loss. You will be in our prayers.
