Royce Pearson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 19, 2024.
Royce "Rusty" Gordon Pearson, 88, was called to his heavenly home on June 16, 2024, in Tucson, Arizona. Born to his loving parents Willard and Lois on August 28, 1935, in Logan KS, Rusty embodied the virtues of faith, family, integrity, public service, and country throughout his life.

A devoted husband to Carol Marie (Grice) for 69-years, and loving father to Jeffery, Annette, and Angela, all of whom he instilled with his values and love of Christ, and love of animals. His commitment to his family was unwavering, and his guidance as a father remains an enduring pillar in their lives.

As a young man, Rusty served in the United States Navy at the Great Lakes Naval Reserve, and he worked as a lineman and surveyor for AT&T throughout the southwest. His professional career began at Sundstrand Aviation in Colorado. In 1966, Sundstrand transferred Rusty to their corporate headquarters in Rockford IL, where he earned several promotions as well as achieved many professional honors from the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS).

While in Illinois, Rusty and Carol raised their family outside of Rockford in Stillman Valley. Rusty was an active member of the local Swedish Covenant Church where he taught a Sunday school class. He also held elected positions on the town's school board and served as water and sewer commissioner.

After 23-years at Sundstrand, Rusty held senior management positions at Reed Rollerbit, and Camco Industries in Houston TX, and Levelor Blinds. He was president of Keytronic in Spokane WA, and then a start-up optics company in Tucson AZ, from where he retired in 1996. Rusty's career showcased his strong work ethic and dedication, as well as the respect and dignity for those he worked with and for.

In his retirement, Rusty and Carol spent their time between Broomfield, CO and Tucson, AZ. Rusty loved studying the Bible, and led several small groups and Bible studies in his homes. In his last years, Rusty loved the Christian fellowship and camaraderie at a weekly men's coffee. Rusty's commitment to his Christian faith was exemplified by his life.

Rusty's educational achievements were marked by his graduation from North High School (1953) in Denver, Colorado, and his pursuit of higher education led him to obtain a Bachelor of Science from Western Illinois University and an MBA from Pepperdine University.

Those left to cherish Rusty's memory include his beloved wife, Carol, his daughters Annette and Angela, his son-in-law Edward Bramson, grandson Royce, a great grand-daughter Emery, his sister Wildina, his brothers Jerome, Lyle and Willard Jr., many nieces and nephews as well as dear friends throughout the USA and world.

He is preceded in rest by his dear parents Willard and Lois, his son Jeffery, his sister Doris Green, and his brother Cyrus.

Rusty's love of Christ, unwavering faith, love and support of Israel and his family will be forever etched in the memories of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

I worked for Rusty when he was VP or Ops at Levolor. I was the plant manager in Houston from 87 - 91. Even back then Rusty had advanced manufacturing methods ideas including LEAN / JIT. For some reason I was called to search for Rusty today and found this obituary. God bless his soul and his family

I appreciated Royce's insight into most any subject that came up in our Wednesday morning coffee gatherings. He always contributed keen insight and often scriptural backing for his position. I was impressed with his Bible knowledge and the fact that he could quote chapter and verse on the fly. He is one of my most "unforgettable people."

Royce was a wonderful leader and contributor to our Wednesday coffee meetings. Royce's knowledge of the Bible and specifically the Old Testament was outstanding. I personally loved to hear him talk and describe his life experiences and provide detailed Bible verses related to our discussions. Royce was a pleasure to be with and he will be missed.

In 2001, Dad and I visited Israel, a trip we had planned several months before 9/11. After 9/11, we were determined to go ahead as our faith and fate were, and still is in the hands of God.
It was an awesome experience that I will cherish forever. For me, the highlight of that wonderful trip was to have my great, dear father baptize me in the Jordon River (2001, not 2021 as previously state.).
I miss you, Dad.

My favorite memory of Dad was our trip to Israel in Nov, 2021, where he baptized me in the Jordan River.
