Mrs. Ruby Beatrice Walker Larkin, 91, of Montgomery, died March 6, 2016. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 12, at 11:00 a.m. at Holt Street Church of Christ, 945 South Holt Street in Montgomery. Brother Eric Thornton will of?ciate. Interment will follow in Eastwood Cemetery with Phillips-Riley Funeral Home directing. She is survived by children Rosalyn Larkin of Montgomery; Reginald (Loretta) Larkin of Cleveland, OH; Romona (Henry) Curry of Glen Burnie, MD; and Ronald Larkin of Montgomery; sisters Robbie Jean Walker, Dorothy Walker, and Doris Croskey, all of Montgomery; brothers Dallas (Beverly) Walker of Detroit, Ml, and Edwin Walker of Memphis, TN; sister-in-law Lillie Larkin of Chicago, IL; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Her life was one of consistency, stability, and reliability. She was married to Roosevelt Larkin for 60 years until his death in 2010. For more than 50 years, she was a member of Holt Street Church of Christ, where she was the oldest active member. She was an educator in Alabama's public schools for more than 40 years. She had many friends- some that she had treasured for more than 60 years and some she had come to value more recently. They were able to contact her at the telephone number she had for more than 50 years at the house in which she lived more than 60 years. Consistent with her love of learning and education, Mrs. Larkin wished that, instead of ?owers for her, contributions be made to the Friends of the Montgomery City-County Public Library to help fertilize and nourish young and older minds. Mrs. Larkin will lie in state one hour prior to Services.
