Ruby POW Obituary
(nee Laverdiere)
October 15, 1932 - April 21, 2012
Ruby passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 21, 2012. She is survived by her husband of 59 years Ashley; daughter Gerri (Pinvidic) and her family Mark, Kara-Jane, Matt and Kennedy Wilkinsky and Jayda Pinvidic; son Clinton and son Jeff and his family Connie, Janel and Carli. She will be lovingly remembered by her brothers Mansel Laverdiere (Joyce) and Murray Laverdiere (Betty), as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. She will also be missed by her 7 granddogs, Beckett, Caicos, Jackson, Frederick, Beezley, Nelson and Koko. She is predeceased by her parents Noel and Myrtle; brother Garnet and sisters Yvette Kindopp and Myrna Schlamp. Ruby was born and raised in Wolseley, SK and moved to Regina where she married Ashley in 1953. During her early years in Regina, in addition to raising her children, she worked at Sears. In her leisure time she was active with bowling and curling leagues. The last several years Ruby was very active with her bridge friends and played many times a week at various locations in and near Regina. Above all else her favorite activity was being able to watch her granddaughters play in all of their various sports. She will be missed on the sidelines at hockey rinks, softball, kickball and soccer fields and dance competitions. We have been honored to have Ruby as part of our family. We will miss you. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 27, 2012 at Broadway United Church, 105 Broadway Ave., Regina, SK. Flowers gratefully declined, donations may be made in Ruby's memory to a charity of your choice.

To Ash and Family - My deepest condolences to you all on the loss of a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. I was shocked to hear the news and today I recalled many fond memories of my time knowing her when we worked and played at Credit Union Central functions. My thoughts and prayers are with you all today and in the many days to come. I wish I could be at the funeral on Friday so that I could give my personal condolences but unfortunately I am needed in my volunteer position at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre. I find it hard to grasp the idea Ruby is gone, it was a shock. She has been a dear friend in our sisterhood of bridge gals. My condolences to Ashley and family whom we all feel we know through your mother. She was so proud- showing us pictures and stories for so many years. She is loved and will sadly be missed.
