Ruby Manning Romines

HENDERSON -- Ruby Manning Romines was born August 9, 1920, to Horace and Ada Gamble. She passed away peacefully on June 20, 2006, surrounded by the people she loved the most, her children. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 22, 2006, at Crawford-Crim-Bryan Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mike Ledbetter officiating. Burial will follow in Rusk County Memorial Gardens. Ruby graduated from Henderson High School in 1938, and she married Richard Romines on March 4, 1939. After Richard's death in 1980, Ruby married lifetime friend, J.D. Manning in 1989. Ruby and J.D. were married until J.D.'s death in 1994. She was a lifetime resident of Rusk County, having lived for many years in the Carlisle and Good Springs communities. She was a longtime member of the Carlisle and Good Springs Methodist Church. Ruby was a homemaker all of her life and truly loved her family and friends. She mostly loved to "visit and giggle." She was a delight for all who knew her and will be sorely missed. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Richard Romines and J.D. Manning; brothers, Jerald and Douglas Gamble; infant son, Billy Wayne Romines; and grandson, Taylor Romines. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Leroy and Betty Romines of Longview; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Cindy Romines of Longview; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Rex Rogers of Henderson; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Romines, Jana Sellers, Robert Romines, Michael Romines, Tasha Mims, Tiffany Reaves, and Josh Rogers; 12 great-grandchildren; her wonderful sister-in-law, Grete Gamble; many special nieces and nephews; precious friends, Lola Ashby, Pett Hodges, Tom Threadgill; and the entire staff of the Azalea House.
