Ruby Russell Doan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 1, 2025.
In loving memory of Ruby N Russell Doan. Passed away on March 23, 2025 surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on November 10, 1931 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Mom grew up and went to school in Fort Worth and Monahans, Texas. After marriage in the late 1940's Mom moved to several places in West Texas and New Mexico. Over her lifetime Mom lived in many cities and small towns within five states.

The loves of her life were Jesus and her children Malcolm Doan, Valerie Adams, (son in law Bill Adams) Randall Doan and Candace Timmons. Until the week Mom passed she would call and check in on all her "kids".

Mom's favorite memories were of us living at our family lake house on Lake LBJ in the Texas Hill country toting all of her kids on our deck boat and giving us each a turn at skiing. Another fond memory of Mom's was a location we called "The Rope". The Rope is where we would all (including Mom) jump from a cliffside into Lake LBJ using a tree rope. She was so much fun!

Mom loved to travel and has visited many beautiful places. She has seen all 50 states in the United States and has traveled in France, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, United Kingdom, Amsterdam, Canada, Jamaica, Bahamas and Mexico. The latter country being where she caught her amazing sailfish.

Mom was a voracious reader. Her favorite books were biographies and medical science books. She could finish a book within hours and most books in 1-3 days. Mom lived independently and was tech savvy at 93 years of age using her cell phone, Ipad and Kindle daily. In the last year Mom also learned to order her groceries online and have them delivered to herself. Mom loved that!

Mom could speak to anyone regarding many topics from travels to football, Nascar and Indy racing, politics, writing poetry, gardening and many more. Her mind was sharp to the end and we are blessed to have her as long as we did. We will truly miss her company and sense of humor.

All who met Mom for a moment or a lifetime loved her.

Mom is survived by her four children, son in law, daughters in law and 10 grandchildren.

A private service will be held for family in the Texas Hill country as she requested.

My condolences to the entire family. My Mom, Ruby Malone 2
and I dearly loved Ruby 1 at
Atria at Hometown. From the
Moment we met we clicked.
We enjoyed so much being
Around each other laughing and
Smiling and acting silly. One
Of many of our memorable days
At Senior Living was FRIENDS
DAY. Of course the two Ruby's
Had to dress alike from head to toe with their TEXAS CHICKS
shirts to their BOB shoes. What
Fellowship showing off together.
Leaving us within 1 year apart,
I feel they are back together now
Carring on all their wonderful
Unforgettable shenanigans. But
Missed here by so many.
Sincerely
Jan Malone Moran

Sending my sincere and heart felt condolences to all of Ruby´s family. Candy when I saw this picture of your mom, I could hear her laugh, and I loved seeing her when I was at your home. I know she will be greatly missed. Love you guys. You are in my prayers.

Mom I will miss our hours long talks. How we laughed at ourselves for always having something to talk about.
I will miss you but I am so happy that you are in the presence of our Lord Jesus that we worshipped and spoke of together. I know we will see each other again. All my love to you Mom.
Your daughter Candy.
