So sorry for your loss. I grew up in Rufus' company down at the duck camp, and he, through his words and actions, taught me what it was to be a considerate and courteous man, a gentle man, and above all, a true gentleman. He will be greatly missed.

Orleans Audubon Society

Rufus served on the Board of Directors of the Orleans Audubon Society for five years, during which time he chaired the Legal Committee and served on the Fund-raising and Sanctuary committees. In 2013, he became the first recipient of the Swallow-tailed Kite Award, honoring him for his service to Orleans Audubon and especially for his dedication to the Swallow-tailed Kite Project. He was a volunteer for the kite project for over 20 years.

We will miss our dear friend, Rufus. He was so much fun to go birding with because he was always up for adventure! Rufus was also an important mentor to Jennifer, helping her to launch her career as an ornithologist. Our condolences to the family.
