I have a lot of great memories of the times Russ and I spent together. We got hired together at Boeing April 11 1979 and from that day forward he was one of my best friends. He was always there when I needed help or to offer advice. He even laughed at most of my jokes funny or not. Thats being a true friend and thats what Russ was. He was a lot of peoples best friend, thats how special he was. I will never forget him.

My Dad (written by Alex-age 13, at school, 5/21/04 in his english class)

My dad, stronger than an ox

Nicer than a fish

He has taught me many things

Such as, how to restrain anger

Because one day,

I, too, shall be

Stronger than an ox

For I am his son.

Russ was surrounded in life by many friends and good people. I spoke with many of you to share the news, and was so moved by the open arms of support and love for my sister and the kids. Russ was a man who brought laughter into our family at every occasion. He was an excellent father, talented, and generous. He will be missed.

I meet Russ in High School. We spent

several years as close Friends.

We water skied and both played Soccer.

It has been several years since I

have talked to Russ. He and his wife

where expecting a baby.

He was so happy and his face

would light up as he talked about it.

I was very happy for him. He was

always a true friend and always came

when you needed help. I was very sad

to hear of his passing and for his

family. I will always remember his

sense of humor. My heart goes out

to his family and children.

Whenever the opportunity would present itself for us to get together with Russ and Nan and the kids, it was always an event you could hardly wait to partake because it was always such a happy time, full of abundant laughter about the kinds of things in life we love to laugh about. Through all the years of working, and socializing with Russ, all the memories we have about Russ, are happy and fun. He was a great source of joy in our lives. We were very blessed to have had the opportunuity to share and get to know what we did of him. For Nan and the children, May all your happy, joyus, and loving memories of Russ/your Dad live on in your hearts as he rests in the arms of his heavenly father.

I don't really need to introduce how I knew Russ, he is my father after all... When I heard about this guestbook, and had read all of the entries... it's indescribable the feelings I felt.

My dad was a great man, everyone telling me, and myself always knowing, he was a great father. He was beyond a great father. His advice, teachings, and everything he's done for me... was all I ever needed growing up. He was the my hero, and my mentor. My parent that was always there, literally. It's hard to type down my thoughts when my mind goes blank... But all I can really say is he touched all of our lives... for better and beyond. He helped all of his friends when they needed him, and enjoyed doing so. He loved us all, and now he is at rest. I love you dad, and I pray that you rest as peacefully as you deserve.

Russ is at peace, and we can feel his love and strength all around us. The words from every one of his friends and family have been one of the most important things to get us through this difficult time.

He's watching, so be sure to say hello whenever you think of him. And feel his smile and strength in return. That is what keeps us going.

Russ was one of my first friends that I met as a child. His family lived across the street from us. I will always have great memories of the games we played as children. Russ and I worked in the same building at Boeing. Every day He would give a wave of hello or we would stop and chat about old times. He was a great friend to me and will be dearly missed. My prayers go out to his family.

I have such great memories of Russ in our youth. I remember riding home from church in your station wagon with the seat that faced the back. Russ and I would go over to the Herfy's close to your house. We walked all over West Seattle. Russ had such a zeal for life! He taught me how to play soccer. We went skiing together. We went up on the International run at Alpental when we were just learning to ski. We made it down by the grace of God! I can't remember exactly but I am sure it was Russ who convinced me to go up it and not the other way around. We would listen to his stereo in his room. He always got the newest best equipment. He was an excellent trumpet player and I once got to hear him play at a Sonics game. I always admired Russ and even though distance has not allowed us to be together he was a special friend.

We love you Edwards family. We will pray for you and we know that your faith will sustain you in the days ahead. Russ had a tender heart and he rests now with his Lord.

Much love to you all in Christ

Dear Heavenly Father~

Lord we all thank you for giving us Russ. If even for awhile.

We thank you for the gift of friendship he gave.

We thank you for his warmth, compassion and love.

We thank you for his smile and laughter that will remain.

We thank you for the memories that are ours to keep.

Lord, please continue to be with this circle of family and friends.

We ask that your arms embrace us with comfort.

Take the hand of each family member and help them through.

Give them courage and strength. Give them a pure peace.

And finally Lord - gather all of our love and wrap him with it.

Let him know how much he will be missed.

Love,

The Winkle Family

We are all deeply hurt by the sudden loss of Russ. He was not only a wonderful friend to Kelly, but like an older brother. Offering up humor, advice and help. His companionship and the fond memories of working on wood projects together will be forever cherished. Russ's love and commitment to his family was a true gift. His friendship to our family will always live in our hearts and memories. May you all find comfort in knowing that we are here if you need us!
