Russell H. Hiatt

Russell H. Hiatt 84 of Pontiac died Wednesday evening (Mar. 11, 2009) at OSF St. James- John W. Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM Sunday at First Lutheran Church, Pontiac with Rev. Dieter Punt and Rev. Jennifer Hartweg-Brown, officiating. Burial with full military rites will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Streator. Visitation was from 12:30-2:30 PM Sunday at First Lutheran Church, Pontiac, during the visitation therewas a lunch served. Hagi Funeral Home, Streator was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hiatt was born June 18, 1924 in Henry, Illinois to Harvey and Vera (Borgstede) Hiatt. He married Ruhama Walling, July 21, 1946 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Streator. She survives.
Russell had been employed at Streator National Bank, he had farmed part time, was CEO at Jefferson County Farm Bureau in Mt. Vernon, CEO at Iroquois County Farm Bureau, Watseka for 10 years, First Trust and Saving Bank of Watseka, Ashkum Central Bank and Potomac State Bank until his retirement. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Pontiac, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Elks Lodge 1019 the Lions Club, and the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors He attended Streator schools and was a graduate of Streator High School class of 1942, he also attended CPA school. He had lived in Pontiac since 1993 and enjoyed repairing old clocks as a hobby. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army Air Force in Guam from 1943-1946.
He is survived by his wife, Ruhama Hiatt of Pontiac, two daughters Becky (Melvin) Redeker, Champaign, Lynn (Brian) Dobson, Lutz FL, two sons Richard (Susan) Hiatt, Pontiac, Russell (Jayne) Hiatt, Danville, twelve grandchildren, two great granddaughters and one sister Marian (Harley) Mayer, Pontiac.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers were grandsons, John Hiatt, Cliff Redeker, Chris and Ryan Beatty, David Washington, Coey Daniels and Timothy Schaffer.
Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church or to the donor's choice.
