Russell Hunter MacDonnell Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 19, 2022.
Hunter MacDonnell was born February 16, 1980 and left this world April 28, 2022.

His energy, great sense of humor and passion for all that life has to offer was unparalleled. Son of Russell and the late Sally MacDonnell, Hunter grew up in Darien, CT along with his three brothers and two sisters. A great protector of his sisters and the leader of the four boys, he was the big brother you wanted by your side.

A graduate of Salisbury School and Hobart College, Hunter spent summers on Nantucket with his family and friends relishing in those long summer days with endless romps at the beach, barbeques and sports at their Sconset home.

Gifted with an inquisitive mind and deep passion for technology, Hunter enjoyed a successful 20-year career in his family's security companies introducing several advanced protocols that helped change the trajectory of the business.

Hunter absolutely adored his children, and never missed an opportunity to share the latest photos. He leaves behind 7-year-old Hayes, 5-year-old Lachlan and 3-year-old Evvi and their mother Kristin MacDonnell of Lakewood Ranch, FL. Hunter is survived by his father Russ and his wife Jan of North Palm Beach, FL and Nantucket, MA; sister Sage (husband Henry) Nozko of Nashville, TN; sister Whitney Wenner of Peachtree Corners, GA; brother Weston (wife Lauren) MacDonnell of Tequesta, FL; brother Harrison MacDonnell of Port Washington, NY; brother Cooper (fiance Jorji) MacDonnell of Manlius, NY; two nieces, six nephews; several loving aunts, uncles, numerous cousins and a host of friends.

The family will have a private celebration of Hunter's life on Nantucket this summer with internment on the island next to his late mother Sally. If you wish to remember Hunter, please consider a donation to the scholarship in his name at www.schoolofaddiction.org/hunter.
