Russ was one cool cat!

Russ was a very colorful person to have as a boss during the first year of my legal career. He was intelligent, creative and could tell some great stories. I'm so sorry to find out the world has lost such a trailblazer.

Russ made such a great impression on me. He was so kind and sweet to me. He called me honey, and with out saying it he opened his heart to me. With tears in my eyes I send my sympathy to every one he touched. I will miss him dearly

Russ was a natural leader with a larger than life personality. He was tirelessly devoted to two things - the education and welfare of Cam and McKenzie and advancing scientific principles in the legal arena. As others have noted, he was truly one of a kind.

Russ was a character! Everyone who knew him loved to be near him and relish in his stories from the past. I miss that and I miss him.

I will never forget Mr. Russ Melton! He was one of the most sarcastic and funny men I have had the pleasure of knowing. I did his hair for the past couple years before he got really sick, did not see him for a while, but then he called for a haircut a few weeks back. I am glad to have spent a little time with him before he passed. I would have forever gone to make house calls for him as long as he needed, and what brings me comfort, is that he knew that! Russ, You were one of toughest submariners I know. Working with you at the cable network doing the Deep Dive News videos a few years ago still brings back fond memories. I know you're in Submariners heaven. You will be missed my friend.

Neil and Russell's family,
I am so sadden by the news of Russell's death. Russell was a bit older, so I don't remmber him being around too much, but I have lots of fond memories of your Mom and times hanging out with Mark. And especially riding in the cool yellow chevy nomand when my brother Mike bought it from you or Russell. Thinking of you.

One of the most unique individuals I have ever met. He always had better stories than mine and I enjoyed listening to every one of them, sometimes more than once. I am positive that this he will be missed by anyone that knew him well.

To the family of Russ Melton - So sorry to hear about the passing of Russ - he was a great guy to work with and a wonderful person. He always had an open ear and loved to talk about his life adventures. He was a great dad and always talked about you guys - thinking of you in your time and need - he will be missed. I can say I truly am glad I got to know Russ and was one of his friends.

My deepest sympathies on such a profound loss. What a privilege to work with such a knowledgeable, inspiring, and entertaining gentleman so many years ago. To my delight, Russ taught me more about life than work itself, and always pushed the limits of what one could dream. My thoughts are with you, and may his memory be eternal.

I am so thankful for the past seven years that I knew Russ; he truly was one of a kind. The father that he was reflects in the strength that both Mac and Cam exemplify. You two have so many people around you who love you.

Mac & Cam, Your Dad was such an inspiration in everyones life. Although doing dictation for his timesheets were always a bsrrel full of laughs. I will miss him so much! My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Russ will forever be missed. He was such a wonderful man to work with. So funny and kind. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

He set the bar high for fire investigations and his practice and will be missed. He was always fun to listen to during his instruction and passed on many skills he knew. Mackenzie, Cameron, and Neil: it was an honor and a privilege to work for Russ for 9 years. He was not only my boss, but he was my family. I loved him dearly and I will miss him every minute. He was very proud of you kids, and talked about your accomplishments all the time. Christine, thanks for being his guardian angel. You truly were a gift to him from above. I love you all.
