I am very surprised and saddened to see Russ has passed away! It was a pleasure working with Russ at Westinghouse on the development of improved emergency procedures after the TMI event back in the 1980s. Recently I would see Russ at church and the doctors office where we would recall the good old days! Condolences to his family and he will be in our prayers.

Dear Oft family,
On behalf of the Catholic Alumni Club of Pittsburgh, we send our condolences. Russ has been a member for numerous years and has attended many events with us. He was a nice guy to have around. He was always cheerful. We'll miss him.

Dennis and Russ Jr. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Russ and myself got back in touch through Classmates over a year ago.We have stayed in touch via of email. We finally had lunch last Friday October 9th in Monroeville at Panera's. We talked for three hours about Central's proms that we had attended together. The Friday night St. Stephen's dances. We talked about our old friends in Hazelwood and both our Moms who knew each other well.Russ was a kind and sweet man who was so proud of his son and grandchildren. He even brought pictures and showed me his three grandchildren. He loved all of you dearly. I am so happy we got a chance to see each other after 42 years.I have lost an old and dear friend. It breaks my heart. God Bless.

Gary and I are deeply saddened by Russ' death; he and Gary were very close and he not only took him to two doctors' appointments early last week but Russ called him at 3a on Wed. He told Gary he was his best friend and talked about buying Gary's car. We are so sorry for your loss and ours. Gary Strieter and joan

Oft Family,
Such sadness in learning of the death of Russ. My deepest sympathy to all of you as you go on without him.
I will always remember him in my mind's eye from the early Hazelwood days and the genius that he was at Central Catholic, his sense of humor and just being part of our crowd.
God's grace and comfort!

Linda and I are very shocked and saddened by the news that Russ passed away. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of Russ' family and friends. Russ and I were friends, golfing buddies, and colleagues for many years and I have a lot of good memories about our times together. He always liked to remind me that I was a few years older than him. We haven't had a lot of contact since I moved away from Pennsylvania more than 20 years ago but we did talk by phone a few days ago and spent almost 3 hours remembering the past, talking about our families and activities, and speaking of the future. Russ was upbeat and spoke as if he felt his health was good and we talked about him visiting us in South Carolina in the spring.
