Rusti Wisian Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 21, 2025.
Lubbock - Rusti Lynn Coleman Wisian, 65, of Lubbock, TX, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

A Celebration of Life event will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 4pm to 7pm at the YWCA Ballroom 2- 6501 University Ave, Lubbock, TX 79413.

Rusti was born on July 30, 1960, in Morton, TX, to Judith and Ronald Coleman. She was the second of four children, Randy, Sambo, and Stephanie, and grew up helping on her family's farms. Her parents instilled her with a strong belief in God.

Growing up, Rusti loved playing tennis including playing on her high school's team that went to state competition. She loved her hometown of Morton and telling stories of her time growing up with the many people who lived there.

Rusti loved live music and concerts. In her early twenties, she hired a band to play a party and met the singer and drummer, Mike Wisian, who she fell in love with and married on December 31, 1984.

Rusti's greatest joy was being a mother to her two children, Gregory Cole and Mikah, and a Ruru (grandmother) to her four cherished grandchildren, Peyton, Dylan, Carter Coleman, and Parker.

Rusti was known for her kindness and spirit. Rusti loved gardening, getting her hair and nails done, shopping, and visiting friends and family. She was a people person and found immense joy in spending time with others, especially her grandchildren.

After her kids were born, Rusti went back to college to complete her nursing degree. She worked as a nurse and case manager, where she was admired for her advocacy and caregiving for her patients. Beyond her career, Rusti enjoyed practicing her faith including daily devotional passages and going on a mission trip to Africa.

She is survived by her husband, Mike Wisian of Lubbock, TX; son, Gregory Cole Wisian, wife Katie, of Houston, TX; daughter Mikah Wisian of Lubbock, TX; and her four grandchildren, Peyton Wisian Douglass and Dylan Wisian Douglass; and Carter Coleman Wisian and Parker Wisian. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, family and friends, and preceded in death by her parents Judith Blackley Coleman and Ronald Coleman.

Thank you to Bridge Hospice, and their many caregivers, and the close friends that helped the family through this tough time.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Rusti's memory to American Cancer Society, Dave's Wish, or the charity of your choice.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love she gave, the strength she showed, and the legacy she leaves behind.
