Ruth Beck Anderson

Born Ruth Vera Beck on December 17, 1930, to Freeman and Amanda Beck, passed away at her home in Lake Zurich on June 27, 2024, at the age of 93. Ruth was born and raised in New Jersey alongside her brother Elmer Beck. Her family strongly believed in rights for all. She was born with adventure in her soul and was fearless. From swimming in the ocean, to falling out of trees and stitching herself up. Later she married her first husband Paul Carpenter and moved to Chicago. They had 3 children. Ruth later remarried Ken Anderson and had a son. Ruth visited all 50 states, has been to Canada, learned to fly a single engine airplane, loved camping, camped in Alaska for 6 weeks in her 50s and after heart surgery in her 80s still went camping to the Sequoia and Yosemite national parks. She was heavily involved with Special Olympics which her youngest son Erik has been involved with for over 35 years. She helped found the organization Free spirits (a nickname her dad called her growing up) which had snowshoeing, swimming, bowling, softball, and gymnastics. Ruth was also a beloved grandmother who often took her grandchildren to museums, zoos, and had many sleepovers playing their favorite games. Ruth had 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren, all which she adored.

Ruth is survived by her daughter Martha Williams, and sons Wayne Carpenter (Spouse, Diane), Erik Anderson and thought of Dave Maurer as a son. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband Ken Anderson and son Gary Carpenter.

Ruths celebration of life will be held at her granddaughter Lydia Werner's home, September 7th from 11am to 2pm. 6316 Johnsburg Rd Spring Grove 60081.

In lieu of flowers Ruth's wishes are to make a donation in honor of her son Erik Anderson to SRACLC (Special Recreation Association of Central Lake County)

Ruth was always ready to give anyone a hug.
Ruth was always interested in so many aspects of life, and I was enjoyed hearing about her adventures.
