Murdock. Passed away peacefully at Louisville Care Center. Ruth was born in Weeping Water, NE. to Henry A. and Maude (Nye) Crozier. She attended Weeping Water school, graduating in the class of 1929, and then went to Peru Teacher College for her certificate. As a youth she attended and became a member of First Christian Church. She married Howard E. Colbert Oct. 12, 1934 on his family farm near Wabash. She began as a teacher, a farmwife and homemaker. In later years she when to work as a clerk at Farm Services ASCS offices in Weeping Water. She was a 50-plus year member of Elizabeth Chapter #250 Order of Eastern Star and Past Matron. She remained on the family farm until poor heath required her to move to the care center. Ruth was preceded in death by parents; husband Howard; daughter Sue; and son-in-law Lyle Buell. Survived by a daughter Dorothy (Jerry) Pointer of Elmwood NE; grandchildren, Jan (husband Dan) Hermesch, Monte (wife Kelli) Buell, Marcia (husband Morris) Beck, Carol (husband Alan) Frenzel; seven great grandchildren, Michelle, Robert, Suzanne, Ina Beth, Adam, Greg and Chad; sister-in-law Pauline Colbert; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
FUNERAL SERVICE at First Christian Church, Weeping Water, NE. Tuesday, July 28, 11am with Larry Hammons officiating. VISITATION Monday 1-8pm, with family greeting friends 6-8pm at Hammons Funeral Chapel in Weeping Water. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery Weeping Water, NE. Family request donations to First Christian Church or Donor's Choice. Condolences may be left at: www.hammonsfs.com
