Ruth (Patrick) Doolittle, 68, of 72 Town Road, Sidney, passed away Sunday morning, July 30, 2006, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.
She was born April 3, 1938, in Sidney Center, the daughter of Agnes (Oliver) Patrick and Leroy Patrick.
She was married to Warren E. Doolittle on July 25, 1959, at the United Methodist Church in Sidney Center.
For more than 19 years, Ruth worked in accounts receivable at Keith Clark in Sidney, followed by McCarthy Enterprises in Unadilla and the Hanford Mills Museum in East Meredith. Additionally, she also served as bookkeeper in the Town of Masonville for more than 28 years as well as treasurer to the Masonville Fire District.
Her strong ties to the church were demonstrated by her activities with the United Methodist Women and as a youth-group leader, Sunday school teacher and financial secretary/treasurer. She was also a Cub Scout den mother for Troops 34 and 59.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Daniel and David; and three grandchildren, Jonathan, Jack and Eleanor. Ruth is also survived by three sisters, Peg Landers, Betty Riesen and Barbara Roff; brother, Fred Patrick; and her uncle, Joe Patrick.
Friends and family are invited to call from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006, at the United Methodist Church in Sidney Center, followed by a celebration of life service at 2 p.m. A brief reception will follow the service and graveside committal will occur at 4:30 p.m. in Ouleout Valley Cemetery in Franklin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in her name may be directed to the Sidney Food Bank, Masonville Emergency Squad, United Methodist Churches in Sidney and Sidney Center.
Arrangements are under the direction of the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney.

Our prayers are with you at this time of sorrow . We will always remember Ruth as one of our friends who welcomed us into the church. We miss all of our Church Family and we will miss Ruth greatly. Ruth was always very helpful to us when we had questions and we appreciated her very much. Even though we can't be there, please know we are thinking of you all.
