Doug and Dawn, I was stationed with Ruth at Scott AFB which was my first assignment. What a wonderful career and such an impact she had to those she was stationed with. May God's peace surround you and His promises sustain you. Cynthia Semones (Wilmington, NC)

Doug and Dawn,
Ruth was an amazing nurse and colleague who had a positive impact on everyone around her. I had the pleasure of serving with her while at David Grant Medical Center. She was inspirational and will always be remembered with great fondness. My thoughts and prayers go with you.

Dr. Eckert was my teacher when I was receiving my bachelors in nursing in 2000-2001. It was her first year teaching. She was always one of my favorites! My husband was active duty Air Force at the time and I was a newlywed, she helped guide me and gave me advice often. When she moved over to McConnell I would see her occasionally if I was there for an appointment and we would always wave.
Fast forward almost 20 years and I have thought of Ruth often. I now have my masters in nursing, 2 kids, and my husband now retired from the Air Force. I know she played a big part of my young nursing career and lasting till now.
Her care for others and knowledge was felt by all who meet her.
Love and prayers

To Ruth's family,
My wife Monica was a co-worker with your beloved Ruth. Monica (Mo) always spoke so highly and lovingly of Ruth. Mo passed on but I want you to know Ruth's memory lives in our home also. May her memory be a blessing to you.

Doug and Dawn,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Ruth was an incredible woman, with whom I am proud to have worked at McConnell AFB. We enjoyed having Dawn at our home to shadow Bob as she considered her career in veterinary medicine. I am pleased that Ruth and I were able to communicate about her health condition recently. She sounded upbeat even close to the end of her life. Peace be with you.

On behalf of the Society of Air Force Nurses, please know that we are also mourning the death of our friend and colleague, Lieutenant Colonel Ruth Eckert. I had the privilege of being assigned with Ruth during my military career. She was a remarkable woman and nurse who made a difference in the lives of so many in her journey through life. As a long-time member of the Society, a donation will be made in her memory as suggested. Ruth will most definitely be missed, and she will certainly not be forgotten by the community of Air Force nurses.

Ruth, what a magnificent journey your life was! This was avery full life that brought so very much goodness into the world. Dawn brought me into her family by sharing her mom with me to help me through my own breast cancer . Carolyn her grand mom, blessed me with a quilt that I dearly love and treasure. What a wonderful family that Ruth was a great part of! Carolyn, Douglas and Dawn, know that this woman has graced all of you, each in different ways with who she was. I know that you will miss her greatly. Peace be with each of you. <3
