Ruth Vie Burton Frye, 92, of the Hickory Nut Community in Nancy, Ky., passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at the home of her daughter, Judy Dalton, Ferry Rd. Somerset, Ky..She was born in Jabez, Ky., on December 18, 1914 to the late Joe and Eva Thurston Burton. She was a very loving mother who loved the Lord and her church family. She was saved when she was 13 years old in Jabez, Ky.. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church since 1962. She played the piano at New Hope Baptist Church for 47 years and she was a Sunday School teacher for 25 years. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was truly an inspiration to all who knew her and she loved to sing praises to the Lord. Survivors include by eight living children, Joe (and Shirley) Frye, Mich., Janice (and David) Rogers, Somerset, Judy (and Gene) Dalton, Somerset, Wayneth (and Marie) Frye, Nancy, Ky., Paul (and Linda) Frye, Somerset, Edsel (and Sandy) Frye, Burnside, Ky., Gary (and Sherri) Frye, Nancy, Ky., and Bruce Frye (and friend Sherrie Dalton), Somerset; 24 grandchildren, Sherry (and Jim) Upchurch, Somerset, Penny (and Roger) Acey, Science Hill, Ky., Kristy (and Sam) Daniels, Shopville, Ky., Beth Burton, John Rogers, both of Bowling Green, Ky., Samuel Rogers, Tim Dalton, of Somerset, Scott (and Cynthia) Vito, Birmingham, Ala., Roy (and Amy) Epperson, Nancy, Ky., Eugene (and Billie) Frye, Nancy, Ky., Bryan (and Elaine) Frye, Nancy, Ky., Coya Hurtt, Burnside, Ky., Kelly Frye, Lexington, Ky., Adam Frye, Burnside, Ky., John Bolin, Burnside, Ky., Kevin (and Myra) Frye, Somerset, Kelsie Frye, Somerset, Josh (and Melissa) Frye, Corpus Christi, Tex., Jessica (and Jeremy) Hoskins, Somerset, Monica (and Robert) Reed, Somerset, Tammy (and Ron) Price, Kimberly (and Roger) Burgess, and Alana (and Nathan) Shuman, all of Mich., and Rhonda (and Dennis) Ruff, S.C.; 32 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Waldo Frye; her son, Raleigh Frye; a great-grandson, Jared Hurtt; four brothers, Robert Burton, Arnold Burton, Warren Burton, and Lilburn Burton; and three sisters, Elva Nicholas, Mildred Dixon, and Elsie Barker. Funeral services for Ruth V. Frye will be held on Friday, December 14 at the Memory Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home at 11 a.m. with Bro. Murrell Crockett, officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 13 at 5 p.m. at the Memory Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to New Hope Cemetery Fund or Hospice of Lake Cumberland.Condolences can be sent to www.lakecumberlandfuneralhome.com for the family of Mrs. Ruth V. I'll never forget being in Ruth's Sunday School class and I always loved to hear her sing and play the piano. She will be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
