Ruth MacFARLANE Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 22, 2002.
MacFARLANE, Ruth Ruth MacFarlane passed away on November 20, 2002 following an accident. Ruth, born in P.E.I., was the youngest daughter of Jean and Arthur MacFarlane. Upon completion of her business degree she joined the Air Force and was stationed all over Canada and in Germany. After returning to Canada she was stationed here in Edmonton. She left the Air Force, traveled to Australia, and then came back to settle in Edmonton. She was a co-founder and President of Johnson Office Products until the business was sold, at which time she retired. Ruth will be remembered for her sense of fun, love of friends, zest for life and quest to try everything. She was undaunted by any task. She was blessed with many talents. She could play several instruments, do needlework, renovate a house, and run a successful business. She had a wonderful way with people and was loved by many. The family wishes to thank all the many friends and relatives who rallied around Ruth and Venice, spent vigils at the hospitals, helped out at home, and said prayers to comfort them. We also wish to thank the staff at the Royal Alex Hospital for their professional and compassionate treatment of Ruth and all who visited her. She leaves to mourn her best friend, Venice Poirier; her nieces, Jan (Denton) Myland, Cathy (Ric) Collins and great-nephews, Jake and Dillon Collins. She was predeceased by her mother and father; her sister, Norma; brother-in-law, Bill Filkin; best friend, Mona Johnson and many dear friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 23 at 11:30 a.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 - 111 Avenue with Mr. Dean Sarnecki officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Park Memorial Ltd. Funeral Administrators and Directors (The Chapel on the Boulevard) 426-0050
