Ruth Manning Obituary

Published by The Chronicle on Nov. 19, 2008.
Ruth Ada Manning passed away peacefully at Providence Centralia Hospital of natural causes on Nov. 14, 2008.
Ruth was born to John and Minnie (Bamer) Good on April 22, 1919 in Klaber, WA. She grew up in the valley, attending Boistfort schools; graduating from Boistfort High School in 1937. Ruth met Robert Eugene Manning, and they wed on Feb. 7, 1941.
Ruth lived, and was active in the community, in Boistfort until 1968. She then moved with her family to Chehalis to live in the house they had built, where she resided for the rest of her life. Ruth took enormous pride in raising her family and being a homemaker. She enjoyed tending her flowers and gardening.
In Chehalis, Ruth attended two garden clubs and was involved in The Adeline-Coffman Children's Orthopedic Hosptial charity club. She was a member of the Baw-Faw Grange and attended Westminster Presbyterian Church.
After Robert''s retirement in 1980, Ruth and he traveled and went on many tours. After Robert passed away in 1988, Ruth spent many of her days caring for her granddaughter, Lauren, who was born in 1987, resulting in an enduring and special bond between Lauren and her Grandma Ruth.
Ruth will be lovingly remembered by her children: Richard (Elaine) Manning, Okanogan, WA and Roberta "Bobbi" Manning of Chehalis, her grandchildren: Lance Manning, Okanogan, WA and Lauren Younghans, Chehalis, her sister: Frances Jacox, Salem, OR and her brothers Al "Sonny" Good and John Good, both of Centralia, WA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth will also be missed by her dear friend, Mary Jo Hicks, Chehalis.
Preceding Ruth in death were her parents and husband, as well as her sisters: Sylvia Anderson and Wilma Muller.
Memorials may be donated in Ruth Manning's name to the Boistfort Fire Department, PO Box 16, Curtis, WA 98538.
There are no services planned at this time. Arrangemnts are under the care of Sticklin Funeral Chapel.

To the Family of Ruth
I worked with Bob at Weyerhaeuser, and really enjoyed and learned from him. I also knew Ruth, and she was , indeed, a very nice person. I know you all miss them both, but know also that you have many good personal memories to sustain you.

Ruth was such a lovely person. It was a priviledge to be able to care for her during a very difficult time in her life. We miss her and our thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

I will never forget my high school years with Bobbi and Ruth. Ruth was outspoken and had a unique way of sharing her thoughts. She always wanted the best for Bobbi and wasn't shy about her love for her daughter. I'm just sorry I didn't get to see her one last time.
