Ruth Mort, 79, Springfield, died peacefully in her home, August 6, 2009. Ruth was born on July 13, 1930 in Springfield, Missouri. She graduated from St. Agnes High School and from St. John's School of Nursing. She attended St. Joseph's and Sacred Heart Catholic Churches in Springfield. Ruth was a lifetime nurse and caregiver. She was Director of Nursing at St. John's Hospital in Springfield for many years. Ruth touched many lives in the training and supporting of her nurses to provide the best patient care possible according to the St. John's Mercy values. Ruth was totally devoted to her family. She is survived by brother, Wayne Beatty, Sparks, Navada; daughter, Sue Breedlove and her sons, Ben and Nick and grandson, Johnathan, Albany, California; son, Tim Mort and his wife Charla, their daughter, Tyler, granddaughters, Lola and Jinx and grandson, Phoenix, Springfield area; daughter, Molly Michael and her husband Steve, Springfield area; Theresa Heilman and her husband Dennis, son, Drew Witt, Springfield area; Carrie Morelock and her husband Dan, daughters, Valerie Enlow and husband Adam, daughter, Natalie, Springfield; daughter, Amy of the home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; parents, Mary and Ralph Beatty; infant sons, Gene and Andy; sister, Sally; and brothers, Ralph, Bob, Harry, Ed, John and Bert; and grandson, Philip Witt. Visitation will be Sunday, August 9, 5 to 6:30 p.m. in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday, August 10, in St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Fr. Bob Landewe and Fr. Ernie Mort officiating. Thanks goes out to Integrity Home Health Care and a very special thanks is given to Jeannie, our angel. Memorial contributions can be made in the name of Ruth Mort to St. John's Hospice Care.
