Ruth was born April 12,1944 in Maryville, Missouri, daughter of Raymond (Jack) and Verda Clark Hilton. She attended the local grade school until moving to McMinnville, Oregon with her parents in 1955. She graduated from McMinnville High School (1962), University of Oregon (1966) with a B.S. in General Science, and the University of California Berkeley (1970) with a M. S. in Plant Pathology.

She was employed as a Staff Research Associate for 31 years in the Department of Plant Pathology (UC Berkeley). Among many projects, she researched viruses of strawberry plants, implemented a Pathogen Free Planting Stock program for the strawberry industry and assisted research on Tomato Bushy Stunt Virus. After retirement in 1998, she volunteered for over 20 years at the Lindsay Wildlife Experience rehabilitation hospital. She also studied watercolor and mixed media painting and did an extensive family genealogy.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 51 years, Terrence Holland Mullin, two sons, Jeff (Nancy) Mullin of Walnut Creek, Brian (Angela) Mullin of Lafayette and four grandchildren, Wesley and Scarlett Mullin of Walnut Creek and Madison and Anthony Mullin of Lafayette. Also a brother, Eldon (June) Hilton of McMinnville, Oregon and two nephews, Colin (Stephanie) Hilton of McMinnville, Oregon and Regan (Tera) Hilton of Newberg, Oregon. At her request there will be no services.

We will miss Ruth and are so glad she was a part of our lives. So many good times over the years. Andree especially had many good and exciting times with Ruth when they were room mates in San Francisco in the 1960's .
