Ruth Ott Peebles, 87, of Raleigh passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 6, 2012. Ruth was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on December 28, 1924 to the late Robert W. Kost and Olive Robinson Kost.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her first husband, Robert L. Ott, and by her second husband, Herbert L. Peebles.

Ruth and her family moved to Raleigh just prior to her high school years. She was a proud alumna, Class of 1942, Needham B. Broughton High School.

Ruth served as a civilian employee for the US Army Air Corp at North Carolina State College in Raleigh during the second world war where young pilot candidates received their initial evaluations and ground school training.

Following the war Ruth married her first husband, Robert ( Bobby ) Ott also from the Broughton class of 1942. She worked for the Dietrick Architectural Firm prior to going to work with her father at McCallum Wholesale Floral Service in Raleigh. Following Bobby's death in 1993 Ruth traveled with her sons and their families to Walt Disney World, San Francisco, British Columbia, Alaska, England and Scotland.

Ruth was an active member and enjoyed her monthly meetings in a ladies book club, and she and Bobby enjoyed their monthly couples bridge club gatherings. Many of her lifelong friendships were born from these associations.

To Bill and family -
I was saddened to learn of Ruth's passing. She was a great lady and I will surely miss her. She had served on the Board of the beach condo and persuaded me to serve also. We had some good laughs together.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
