Ruth R. Stanley

Ruth R. Stanley, 89, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2015, at her residence. Ruth was born on January 2, 1926 in Jefferson County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Sam Hull Rankin and Chlorice Bible Rankin. She graduated from Carson-Newman College in 1945 at the age of nineteen and moved to Kingsport to work at Tennessee Eastman as an Analytical Research Chemist. She was an active member of the Colonial Heights Baptist Church serving in various ministries throughout the years, especially teaching the two year old Sunday school class. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Samuel Stanley, on February 12, 2001.
Survivors include her children, Roger Samuel Stanley, of Jackson, TN and Laura Frances Stanley Pickwell, of Kingsport, TN; four grandchildren, Natalie Ruth Pickwell Roberts, of Gray, TN, Sarahfaye Elisabeth Stanley, of Johnson City, TN, Andrew Logan Pickwell, of Jefferson City, TN and Whitney Nicole Pickwell, of Knoxville, TN; three brothers, Lyle Rankin, of Dandridge, TN, Taylor Rankin, of Abilene, TX and Richard Rankin, of White Pine, TN; two sisters, Phyllis Lintz, of Sevierville, TN and Frances Gardner, of Memphis, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday, January 4, 2015 from 12:00pm until 2:00pm at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral Services for Mrs. Ruth R. Stanley will be held Sunday, January 4, 2015 at 2:00pm in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Greg Burton and her nephew Pastor Duane Lintz officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Gethsemane of East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family would like to say a special thanks to all the caregivers who assisted with Ruth's care over the last three months.
