Ruth Nella Streb (née Weaver) of Powhatan, VA affectionately known as Ruthie, passed away at the age of 87 on January 19, 2025, in Midlothian, VA. Born on May 20, 1937, in Marion, Ohio, Ruthie led a life marked by devotion to her family and an adventurous spirit.

Ruthie graduated from Girard High School in Girard, Ohio. Her journey as a military spouse to her first husband took her across the globe, raising her family in Germany, Japan, Hawaii, and various other locations across the contiguous United States. This experience enriched her life and broadened her perspective, allowing her to embrace diverse cultures and experiences.

She is survived by her children, John E. Killin III of Richmond, Kimberly Bradham (Wayne) of Powhatan, and Wendy Cabaniss (Charles) of Powhatan; grandchildren, Jennifer Laubenthal (Bryan), Corey Cabaniss (Mali), and Mason Cabaniss (Lily); and great-grandchildren, Alexander, Stella, Kayden, and Carter. Ruthie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald Streb Sr.; her mother, Ethel Weaver; her father, Thomas Weaver, and her former husband, John E Killin Jr.

Ruthie dedicated many years of her life to her career as a bookkeeper for various automobile dealerships in both Ohio and Florida, showcasing her meticulous nature and strong work ethic. Beyond her professional life, she was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, most recently at the Powhatan United Methodist Church.

Ruthie's hobbies included reading, sewing, and needlework. She loved to sing and was a member of Sweet Adelines International for many years as well as her various church choirs throughout her life.

She was a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star - Bradenton Chapter #87 and had served as Worthy Matron in Boynton Beach FL. She also served as Mother Advisor for the International Order of Rainbow for Girls #176 in Girard, OH. These activities not only brought joy to Ruthie but also allowed her to form lasting friendships and contribute to her community.

Ruthie's life will be celebrated with a Funeral and Celebration of Life at Powhatan United Methodist Church in Powhatan, VA, on Saturday, January 25, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the service at 10:30 AM. Bennett and Barden Funeral Home in Powhatan, VA, is assisting the family with arrangements.
