Ruth Young Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 8, 2024.
Ruth Young, cherished wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend, passed away on May 5, 2024, in Kingwood, TX, at the age of 76. She was surrounded by family as her husband of 56 years sat holding her hand. Her nine-month battle with cancer had taken its toll. She fought hard and was selfless to the end. She never complained.

Ruth and Bill met at Bill Mraz Dance Hall in Houston Texas and spent their early married years cutting up the dance floor. Ruth dedicated her life to her family and to being an early education teacher. Her passion for teaching extended beyond the classroom, as she was known for her nurturing and caring nature. She found joy in shaping young minds and she made a positive impact on many people's lives. "Mrs Ruth" was a very special lady and a real "mother to all".

She was a devoted member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. Ruth's faith was an integral part of her life, guiding her actions and values.

In her free time, Ruth enjoyed gardening, cooking, and taking leisurely walks. Her hobbies reflected her nurturing personality and love for nature.

A service to celebrate Ruth's life will be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church on May 18 at 1PM. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Bill Young, her children John Young (wife Christi) and Susan Silman (husband Shawn), her grandchildren JC, Blake, Erin, Kara, Noah, and Lila, her sister Alice Hejl, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she cherished deeply.

She was born on June 10, 1947, in Brenham, TX, and is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Evelyn Hoefelmeyer.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a children's charity of your choice in memory of Ruth Young. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Ruth is my aunt. One of the earliest memories I have of her is her and Uncle Billy holding hands and going for a walk every evening. Something to be aspired to in a relationship. I always loved getting together with them on the holidays and playing with my cousins. She will truly be missed

I feel so blessed to have had Ruth in my life. Since I lost my mom so young, she was like a second mom to me. I always felt like I could tell her anything, and she´d calmly listen and provide the best advice. She was selfless, a great storyteller and had a beautiful soul. We will miss her so much!

I am so thankful to have gotten to spend so much time with my grandma growing up. She was the most caring person I have ever known and always put others first.

Ruth was my dear sweet cousin with a heart as big as Texas. As young girls we enjoyed sleepovers at Aunt Lorene´s house because she would take us shopping! We spent many Saturday nights together at Bill Mraz dance hall and I was privileged to be a bridesmaid in her and Bill´s Wedding. My condolences and prayers to Bill, Alice, her children, grandchildren. May you find comfort in all the memories

Seeing Ruth and Bill walking and holding hands every evening, my daughters calling Ruth "Nana" when they were growing up, and standing in the Young's front yard talking while our little girls played are some of my favorite neighborhood memories. The Priesmeyers are praying for your comfort and peace.

Seeing Ruth and Bill walking together every evening holding hands is a sweet memory. My daughters called Ruth "Nana", as most kids in the neighborhood did. Our conversations in the Young's front yard while little girls played made our neighborhood a special place for my family. Love and prayers for comfort from the Priesmeyers.
