Ruthann Mogen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 28, 2024.
Born in Mitchell, SD on January 2, 1941, Ruthann passed away with family on November 22nd. She is survived by five grand children, two great grand children, her children, Michael, Eric & Tori, Kristin & Salah Kitali, and her dog Scotty. Her siblings, Donnajean Melby, Janet Shorb, and Jim Wilson preceded her in death, as well as parents, Donald and Othella Wilson.

Ruthann grew up and started a family in South Dakota, moving to Portland in 1973. Bright, organized and determined, she grew a career in regional utilities, developing long term friendships with coworkers, customers, and people with perceived competing interests. A consensus builder, Ruthann was adept at identifying common ground, building trust, and reaching lasting community and employment agreements.

She overcame many hurdles through her life, learning to walk after contracting polio in her youth and surviving breast cancer in her midlife. Ruthann traveled to Europe, Russia, and Asia, and equally enjoyed exploring the pacific northwest. She loved skiing, and also enjoyed sailing, white water rafting, fishing, and scuba diving. Her fond memories included meeting with her book club, traveling with friends and family, and taking her grandchildren to plays.

Her family is united in love for her and will greatly miss her.

She was the best friend a person could have. Her quick wit, sense of humor and love of life made her a very special person.
