Ryan Garrett Daugherty, 30, of Plano, Texas passed away on January 24, 2022 from unexpected heart disease. Always a faithful son, Ryan enjoyed a Sunday brunch at his parents' house, visited with them, left his dog to play with their dog, and went to play a recreational hockey game with his friends. Later, at his home, Ryan was watching television, listening to music on his earphones when he died. Even though a failing heart took him away from this world, his loving heart left a beacon of light for all those who knew and loved him. Ryan was born on April 16, 1991 in San Dimas, CA to Dan and Debbie Daugherty. He and his family moved to Texas in 1996. Ryan attended high school in Allen, TX and Omaha, NE. The Daugherty family were big supporters of their children, particularly of their hockey sports. With Ryan and his brother, Nathan, the family had many hockey adventures traveling around the country with their teams. Ryan played in many AAA travel hockey leagues over the course of his career, including Omaha Lancers (USHL): and Northern Michigan University Wildcats (WCHA – Div.1) (on a athletic scholarship). After college he was employed by Monkey Sports in the Hockey Division as an Assistant Manager/Buyer. Ryan most recently worked for the family business, Ace Painter. He was learning the business under the guidance of his parents and fellow "crew" members. His parents were proud of Ryan's growth and development. [The family urges all friends, and other readers, to have a heart-health/coronary heart disease check-up.] Ryan was preceded in death by his brother, Nathan (2018); his grandparents, Dero Pippin; and Dick and Betty Lou Daugherty. In addition to his parents, Ryan is survived by his grandmother, Arnell Pippin, of Oakhurst, CA, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Ryan will be greatly missed by his family and many friends who will love him forever. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, February 4, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home 2925 5th St., Sachse, Texas 75048 https://www.youtube.com/user/SpecialWebsVideos/videos

Debbie and Dan, I am so very sorry for the loss of Ryan. He was a truly unique young man and such a blessing to this world! Even though I only knew him through his doctor's office on a monthly basis for several years, I became extremely fond of him and he will be greatly missed. My heart goes out to you both and we will continue to pray God's grace, mercy and comfort surround you as this tragic part of your journey unfolds. Always, Sherry Boyer RN
