Dale A. Harbison, 94, of Natrona Heights, died Friday, April 27, 2007, in Fair Winds Manor Nursing Home, Winfield Township, Butler County, where he was a resident for two and a half years. He was born Oct. 10, 1912, in Tarentum, son of the late Joseph and Nettie (Caufield) Harbison, and lived his entire life in the area. He graduated from Har-Brack High School in 1933 and was a milk delivery route man for the former Furers, Paiges and Country Bell Dairy for 42 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II as a private first class in Northern France and the Rhineland. He received a Purple Heart for injuries sustained in Germany. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Natrona Heights, a life member of the Natrona Heights VFW and a former member of the Tarentum Area Sportsmen's Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, skeet shooting and gardening. He was the founder of Harbison's Nursery, Natrona Heights, enjoyed his camp in Eldred Township near Brookville and was an avid turkey hunter. Survivors include his sons, Edward D. (Judy) Harbison, Albert W. "Ham" (Melody) Harbison and R. Thomas (Barbara) Harbison, all of Natrona Heights, and David E. (Janis) Harbison, of South Buffalo Township; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth A. (Rusiewicz) Harbison, on Sept. 19, 2001; eight brothers, Golden, Walter, Leonard, James, Joseph, Charles, Lynn and Oliver Harbison, and one sister, Nettie Mae Mann. Relatives and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the DUSTER FUNERAL HOME INC., Tenth Avenue at Corbet Street, Tarentum, 724-224-1526, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Glenn B. Kohlhepp, his pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Ladislaus Cemetery, Natrona Heights. Full military honors will be accorded for Mr. Harbison. Visit www.dusterfuneralhomeinc.com.
