A Funeral Service will be celebrated Friday, January 29, 2021, at 11:00 am at Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church in Lafayette for Saba Nabih Qaisieh, 91, who passed away Saturday, January 23rd at home in Lafayette. Visitation will be observed on Thursday, January 28th from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm and resumes January 29th at 9:00 am to 10:30 am, at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette. A prayer time will be held on Thursday, January 28th at 6:30 pm at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette. Reverend Fr. Stephen De Young of Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church in Lafayette will officiate. Saba was born on December 7, 1929, in Beit Jala, Palestine and was a long-time resident of Acadiana. He graduated from high school and went on to work as a teacher, translator (Arabic, English and French) for many years as the Department Head of Ministry of Communications in Kuwait City, Kuwait and was instrumental in publishing and translating the first TV Guide. Saba was a co-founder of Chicken on the Bayou and Boudin Shop in Henderson, LA. He was a parishioner of Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church in Lafayette. Saba was active in his community and was one of the founders of Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church in Lafayette, LA. He enjoyed reading and learning worldwide history, cultures and religions. Most of all, Saba loved to spend time with his family and friends. Saba is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Alice Saba Qaisieh; his four children, three sons, Nabih Qaisieh and his wife, Angela, Khaled Qaisieh and his wife, Linda and Nader Qaisieh and his wife, Rachel and one daughter, Nida Qaisieh Sfeir, all of Lafayette; three brothers, Mousa Qaisieh and his wife, Samira, Essa Qaisieh and his wife, Rima and Fouad Qaisieh and his wife, Samira, all of Beit Jala, Palestine; two sisters-in-law, Violet Qaisieh of Santiago, Chili and Linda Qaisieh of Beit Jala, Palestine; four sisters, Lorice Qaisieh of Amman, Jordan, Sohila Ghawali of Beit Jala, Palestine, Jeahed Qaisieh and Tania Bandak, both of Las Vegas, Nevada; nine grandchildren, Kameron, Saba, Sarah, Antoine, Andre, Sebastian, Alise, Nicholas and Max and numerous dear nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nabih Mousa Qaisieh and Barbara Mansour; two brothers, George Qaisieh and Fahim Qaisieh; a sister, Nehad Qaisieh; his son-in-law, George Michel Sfeir and three brothers-in-law, Michael Qaisieh, Mena Ghawali and Essa Bandak. Pallbearers will be Khaled Qaisieh, Kameron Qaisieh, Saba Qaisieh, Antoine Sfeir, Andre Sfeir and Sebastian Qaisieh. Honorary bearers are Nabih Qaisieh, Nader Qaisieh, Nicholas Qaisieh and Max Qaisieh. The family wishes to thank Bridgeway Hospice, Senior Helpers, Mark LeBlanc, Preston Rose and Lisa Champagne for the compassionate care given to Saba and his family.
