Sabine Mary "Beanie" Schmidt

SCHMIDT Sabine "Beanie" Mary Schmidt, 95, of Jefferson City, died Saturday, December 26, 2009, at Golden Living Center. She was born September 18, 1914, at the family farm near Westphalia, a daughter of Casper and Christine Scheulen Weber. She attended the Descher Rural School near Westphalia. On May 25, 1937, Sabine was united in marriage to John Joseph Horstdaniel, who died May 1, 1950. On October 15, 1955, she married Paul Henry Prenger, who died on July 22, 1968. On November 6, 1982, she married Hubert Thomas Schmidt, who died March 6, 1995. Sabine helped on the family farm and worked at the Westphalia Inn. She moved to St. Louis to provide child care for a family. Sabine returned to the area and worked for Oberman Manufacturing and International Shoe Factory and was a child care provider for many years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jefferson City and Our Lady of the Snows in Mary's Home. She is survived by two sons: John David Horstdaniel of Cedar City, Utah, and Ronald Joseph Prenger of Springfield; two daughters: Leta Mae Twehous and Norma Jean Creach, both of Jefferson City; four grandsons: Steven Brandt and Kerry Creach of Jefferson City, Lynne Horstdaniel, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Jason Prenger, Springfield; seven granddaughters: Stacey Kromer and Sandra Brandt both of Jefferson City, Sara Otto of Westphalia, Vickie Vigil of Phoenix, Arizona, Tanya Bray of Cottage Grove, Oregon, Kimberly Price of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Anne Prenger of Springfield; 25 great- grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husbands and parents, Sabine was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel Jennings Creach a granddaughter, Suzanne Marie Bates three sons-in-law; four brothers, Martin, John, Raymond and Hugo Weber; and one sister, Adele Kimmerling. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 3 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 4 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or the American Diabetes Association.
