Sabrina Rena Smither, age 52, of Cumming, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at Well Star Community Hospice Tranquility at Cobb in
Austell, Georgia. Born on May 12, 1972, in Henderson, Kentucky, Sabrina was the daughter of Randall William Peckenpaugh and Shirley Diane Clark Peckenpaugh, both of whom preceded her in death.
Sabrina's educational journey began at Henderson County Senior High School, where she graduated in 1990. Her passion for education led her to pursue an Associate Degree in Early Child Care and Education at Coosa Valley Technical College in 2006. She furthered her studies at Reinhardt University in 2009 and achieved a Master's Degree in Education from Nova Southeastern University in 2014, graduating with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Demonstrating her commitment to lifelong learning, Sabrina earned a Degree as an Education Specialist in Special Education from Walden University in 2020. At the time of her passing, she was diligently working on her dissertation for a Doctoral Degree in Special Education at Walden University.
Sabrina's professional career was as diverse as it was impactful. She initially worked in various roles, including as an insurance arbitrator and a travel agent, where she developed a love for cruising. Her true calling, however, was in education. Sabrina began her teaching career at Living Way Christian Academy in Adairsville, Georgia, before joining the Fulton County Georgia School System as a Special Education Teacher. At the time of her death, she was a math teacher at Centennial High School and served as the Sponsor of the school's Fencing Team for the 2023-2024 school year.
Sabrina's early life in the Niagara area of Henderson County, Kentucky, was marked by her active participation in 4-H, where she achieved numerous state championships with her horses, Texas and Roy. She was a talented musician, playing the flute and piccolo in the Henderson County Marching and Symphonic Bands, and was also a member of the Chamber Choir.
In her later years, Sabrina embraced a variety of interests and activities. She competed in ice skating and participated in Warrior and Mudder Runs, showcasing her adventurous spirit. Her creative side was expressed through photography, working with Amorous Photography, a business owned by her husband, Sean. Above all, Sabrina cherished her family, including her children and her beloved pets, Mambo, Aries, Jack, Jill, and Carell.
Sabrina is survived by her loving husband, Sean Freeman of Cumming, Georgia; her daughter, Ashton Paige Smither of Warner Robins, Georgia; her son, William Ian Smither and his wife Jasmine of Hinesville, Georgia; her sister, Dawn Michelle Peckenpaugh of Henderson, Kentucky; and her ex-husband, Sean Smither of Cumming, Georgia. She also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss her dearly.
A Celebration of Life was held on November 17, 2024, at her home in Georgia, with another planned for the spring in Henderson, Kentucky. Arrangements are pending through the Cremation Society of Georgia in
Atlanta, Georgia. Sabrina's legacy of love, dedication, and passion for education will be remembered by all who knew her.
