Sadie Morris Holbrook

KANNAPOLIS - Sadie Morris Holbrook, 78, of Kannapolis went to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Tucker Hospice House following a period of declining health.

She was born March 21, 1935 in Rowan County, a daughter of the late Ernest Lee and Lula Sides Morris.

Mrs. Holbrook was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church and later attended Centerview Baptist Church. She served as a nutrionist for the Kannapolis City Schools for 23 years. After retirement she enjoyed going to the Senior Center, she enjoyed cooking for her family and loved to work in her flower beds as long as her health permitted.

Her husband, Henry Lee "Buck" Holbrook preceded her in death June 24, 1998.

Survivors include three sons, Lonnie Holbrook of Kannapolis, Michael Corriher of New Bern, and Dan Holbrook of Raleigh; one daughter, Shelia Ferrier of Kannapolis; brother, Roy Morris and sister Dolly Rector both of Salisbury; five grandchildren, Krista Corriher of New Bern, Christy Hendley, Sawyer Holbrook, and Emalie Holbrook all of Kannapolis and Gary Holbrook of Raleigh and two great-grandchildren, Madison Corriher of New Bern and Carter Hendley of Kannapolis.

Service: Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Rev. Doug Pierce, Sr. and Rev. Willie Rash. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home Tuesday from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. At other times they will be at the residence.

Sadie was a "salt-of-the-earth" Christian. Her constant smile at work, her love for A.L. Brown, her love for kids were all well -known. Sadie was proud of her children, loved to cook, and loved retirement. Her greatest love was her grandchildren. Sadie changed those around her with her love for Christ. When I think of Sadie I think of this: "SOME PEOPLE COME INTO OUR OUR LIVES, LEAVE FOOTPRINTS ON OUR HEARTS, AND WE ARE NO LONGER THE SAME,".

My heart goes out to Miss Sadies family. I will miss her coming to Bluebay on Sundays with her family and letting me take care of them. My prayers are with you all.
