Sadie Struiksma

Sadie Struiksma, of Lynden, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 2, 2010. She was 82 years old. Sadie was born July 27, 1928 to Yke and Akke DeJong. As a young girl, Sadie attended Lynden Christian School. On Sept. 10, 1946, Sadie was married to Andy Struiksma in Lynden and together they farmed in the Everson area for 42 years. In 1989 they moved to Lynden; where Sadie entered the Christian Health Care Center in 2007. Preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Charlie, Bill, Sam, John and Dave; three sisters, Irene Buma, Dora Struiksma and Gert Groothuis.; Sadie is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Andrew Struiksma; daughter, Annetta (Gary) Small; son, Wilbur (Annette); daughter, Esther (Tim) Neufeld; son, Ivan (Sharon) and son, Jerry (Margie); twenty grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Visitation hours are scheduled Thursday, Oct. 7, 2 to 5 pm at Gillies Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted Friday, Oct. 8, 2:00 pm at Monumenta Cemetery followed by a 4:00 pm memorial service at Grace Baptist Church, 3920 James St. Road (north of K-Mart) in Bellingham.
