Sally Ann Nadeau

Sally Ann Hart-Nadeau, 85, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2024, at her home in Virginia Beach, Virginia, surrounded by the love and care of her daughter, Lori Nadeau-Laumann, and her granddaughters, Casie Lee Laumann-Meyerkroff and Clarissa Ann Laumann-Stephenson.

Born on June 5, 1939, in Buffalo, New York, Sally was the cherished daughter of Russell and Florence Hart. She was preceded in death by her parents, five siblings-Dolores, Bobby, Janet, Diane, and Tom-and her beloved grandson, Sean Nadeau.

Sally's life was defined by an incredible love story with her late husband, Russell John Nadeau, who passed just over a year ago. The romantic tale of Russell and Sally unfolded against the backdrop of a Harley motorcycle as Russell rode his way into her heart. He traveled miles from Norfolk Naval Base to Buffalo to be by her side. His charm and determination eventually won over Sally's guardians, Ted and Ike Lutz, and Ruth and Carl Rustay, etching him forever into the fabric of the Hart/Lutz/Rustay-and eventually the Nadeau-family. Sally loved that "Mad Frenchman" with all of her heart and stood steadfastly by his side throughout their 65 years of marriage. During his final years, she selflessly served as his primary caregiver, ensuring he was surrounded by the same love and care that had defined their life together.

Sally was a devoted mother to her four children: Russell Nadeau, Lori Laumann, David Nadeau, and Bryan Nadeau. Her involvement in their lives was constant and unwavering, from participating in school events to assisting in classrooms. As her children grew and had their own families, she embraced her roles as a grandmother to nine grandchildren and a great-grandmother to twelve great-grandchildren with the same boundless love and energy.

Known for her culinary skills and meticulous housekeeping, a trait she shared with her sister, Dolores, Sally often drew inspiration from her beloved Aunt Ike, delighting her family with homemade spaghetti and chicken noodles, among other specialties. Every chair was always in its place, and every curtain hung perfectly, reflecting her dedication to creating a home filled with order and warmth. The dinner table in the Nadeau household was always a place of laughter, love, and cherished memories, where Sally's warm heart and incredible cooking brought everyone together.

Sally's passing marks the end of a beautiful life filled with love, kindness, and dedication to her family. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. The legacy of her love and the memories of her care will forever be a guiding light for those she leaves behind.
