Sally Sturgis Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 31, 2025.
Sally Keogh Sturgis, age 91

Sally (Keogh) Sturgis was a resident of Scottsdale, Arizona, passed peacefully on March 21, 2025. Sally had an identical mirror twin sister, Joanne Murphy, the lefty. Sally, the righty, and Joanne spent many years together enjoying their twin uniqueness, and sharing their twin antics with both families.

Sally was born on November 2, 1933, in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Sally graduated from Derham Hall University High School. Sally and Joanne (aka Minnesota Twins) skated together for the Ice Follies, making up the ends of the chorus line among many other acts. Sally retired from her ice skating career and got married to start a family. Her first husband was Murray T. Stevens, with whom she shared three sons: Murray Jr. (Tenny), Mark, and Scott. Her second husband was Robert L. Sturgis. She became the stepmother to his children: Bobby, Shelly, Siri, and Jeffrey. They shared a loving marriage and life together until his passing. Sally embraced the role of a quintessential 1950's homemaker, a classic bravo housewife, and the matriarch of her family.

Sally is preceded in death by her father, Thomas Keogh, mother Norma Nelson, sister Joanne Murphy, husband Robert L. Sturgis, stepson Bobby Sturgis, and the father of her children, Murray T. Stevens.

Sally is survived by her three sons: Tenny (Erin) from Reedley, CA, Mark (Jane) from Camp Verde, AZ, and Scott from Scottsdale, AZ. Sally has five grandchildren: Lani, James (Nicole), Jacqueline (Ryan), Linda (Tanner), and Brad. She was "Nonnie" to ten great-grandchildren: Zachary, Izabel, Norah, Macee, Lucas, Adam, Karsyn, Kennedy, Christian, and Kimberly. Also, Joanne's family, the Mickelson's. Amanda and Hayley were her bonus granddaughters and her pet's favorite visitors. Sally also had many nieces and nephews that were dear to her heart... Sally was loved by all, and she loved them all. "Right back at you," was one of her favorite sayings.

Sally was an avid dog lover. She would give a home to the runts and rescue dogs of the world. She annually donated to SPCA. In memory of Sally, if you wish to make a donation to your local SPCA, or any animal shelter of your choice, in her honor, we would be thankful.

Also, a special thank you to Hospice of the Valley and Assisted Living of Scottsdale for their care, kindness, and compassion.
