Salvador Gonzalez Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 5, 2025.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dr. Salvador Gonzalez, who peacefully departed this world surrounded by his family on August 27th 2025 at the age of 72. A man of great intellect, extraordinary presence, and unmatched charisma, he lived a life many dream of but that few ever have the courage or passion to pursue.

Dr. Gonzalez was a long time resident of Chicago, he was born on April 16th 1953 in Lagos de Moreno, Mexico. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother Cipriana Colunga, father Salvador Gonzalez Sr and brother Manuel Rodriguez. He is survived by his siblings: Gilbert, Margarita, Sergio, Virginia, Raul, Elizabeth, Mario, Edward, Jaime. As well as countless nieces, nephews, cousins, a global community of friends, and colleagues who were lucky enough to share in his extraordinary journey.

He earned his Masters in Management from the prestigious Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Never one to settle, he went on to earn his Doctorate from Argosy University, further deepening his expertise and expanding his influence in both business and education. But titles and degrees were only a small part of who he was.

Known for his larger than life personality, his limitless charm, and his signature greeting "Hello, my darling" Dr. Gonzalez could light up any room simply by walking into it. He was magnetic, vibrant, and entirely himself. Those who knew him will remember his dazzling presence, his boundless generosity, and his infectious laughter. He was a patron of the arts, a man of culture and sophistication, and a proud long standing member of the Lyric Opera of Chicago. He found great joy in the music, drama, and timeless elegance of performance. He found inspiration in beauty and he made it a point to travel the world, seeking not only knowledge but experience, connection, and story.

He was no stranger to the spotlight, appearing as a guest on local Chicago news stations as well as nationally on CNN, where his insight, presence, and unmistakable voice made him a compelling figure and a trusted commentator.

Yet, for all his worldly adventures and public appearances, his greatest joy came from creating traditions and memories with those he loved. Thanksgiving and Christmas were sacred to him, not just for their festivity, but for the moments of connection, warmth, and tradition they allowed with family. He was the architect of unforgettable celebrations, rich with laughter, good food, and the kind of memories that stay with you forever.

He leaves behind a legacy not just of accomplishments, but of impact on the lives he touched, the minds he shaped, and the hearts he inspired. In honoring him, we remember not just what he did, but who he was: a true original, a brilliant mind, a loving soul, and a man who truly lived. He will be missed fiercely and remembered always.

Memorial and funeral services to be held in Lagos De Moreno, Mexico. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the orphanage Sagrado Corazon De Jesus or Project Ignite Chicago reflecting his lifelong commitment to philanthropy.
