Dear Petty, I hope you remember me from the time of my marriage to DR. Ed Andres, Pathogist. My daughter Deirdre Andres called to tell of Sam's death, as did Bev Somerville.
Of course my first meetings with him were in S.C.H. when I was a sudent nurse there many moons ago.
He one of the Doctors who treated us as normal intelligent young women and we appreciated that. He had a great sense of humor and provided medical care to many, many people in his time as well as contributing to the life and growth of Saskatoon.
Having a DR. remember your name and almost always have a smile was important.
My thoughts are with you, he has left a great legacy to you all and to the City of Sasktoon, he will be missed.
Take care, Sincerely
Chandra Behrenz

I remember Dr. Landa as being my maternal grandmother's doctor. She even took me to see him once in a while. I remember him as being a very good doctor who once did some minor surgery on me when I was about 11 or so. We really liked and trusted him.
My condolences to the entire family!

One of the best Doctors that Saskatoon has ever had. I started doctoring with him in 1972. One thing I used to laugh at is the way he dealt with things. I was scheduled to go for surgury, three times I cancelled because I was real sick. The last time I was scheduled to go in I got sick again, I made a visit to the office and he told me that's okay we had to reschedule your surgury as I have to go out of town. He also told me that I would be admitted that day so he'd know for sure that I would be well enough for my surgury.
I broke both my legs one year due to an accident and was very upset that I would not be able to see him as his office was not wheelchair accessible. He told me not to worry that I could just go to City Hospital in the mornings if I needed to see him and he would make a point to see me.
He will live on in the hearts of the people he has touched. Dr. Landa you fullfilled your role on earth and your journey has just begun.
With deepest sympathy

I remember working with Dr.Landa as an interne at
city Hospital, and many visits and conversations in ensuing years. My wife, Shirley, a city hospital student nurse, and I, both remember our first surgical scrubs with Dr. Landa. He was, and remains, one of our favorite people.

Dr. Landa brought me into the world in 1941. He removed my tonsils when I was six; my appendix when I was 12. When I fell off a hay rack at 15 he put a cast on my broken arm. He did it all over a long and productive life.
