To Susan, Sophia and the entire family: You have endured a tough time. A heartbreaking way to lose someone so important in your lives. I will keep you and Sam in my prayers. I was grateful to attend the funeral by live stream, thank you for that option. The stories and music were wonderful. Sophia, I loved your poem. Sam's memorial video with photos is especially poignant; the images with the children really brings it all into perspective (the video is found below his Obituary on the Porter Loring site). You will find comfort in his love for you and retelling the story of his life. May God bless you all.

We love you Uncle Sammy....we may have had to watch your memorial online, but we were blessed to actually know you as the amazing son, husband, father, grandfather and uncle that you were....you will never be forgotten. Your legacy will live in on with th

Sammy was the elder statesman of my generation of cousins and siblings. He was the beacon we all followed so naturally we were all proud of him as he went from draftsman to architect to set an example for us all. I always felt he was rushed into maturity faster than the rest of us. He is immensely important to our family because, to me, he is still the star whose direction we will follow. Sammy will be sorely missed. Susanne and Leon Rodriguez and family.

Uncle Sammy could cook a deep-fried turkey like nobody's business. I'll never forget the many laughs we shared together and with our family waiting for the turkey to cook each Thanksgiving my dad and I were able to visit. His genuine joy each time I'd walk through the door truly made me feel special despite living states apart, and every mischievous, sarcastic remark aimed at my expense was filled with love. I'll forever miss my Uncle Sammy

It's tough to put into words feeling the loss of Sammy. He helped make so many memories, along with a few laughs at our expense, for my parents and family. I still have my cowboy boots he helped me pick out back in the 80's, photos of the wonderful occasions when he'd barbecue, deep-fry a turkey, grill sausages, and feeling the warmth of a loving home. I'll miss his hugs of greeting and leaving, always with a huge smile. Guess I just gotta wait a little longer for our next hug.

What a character! I've known Sam for about 25 years and he was one of the funniest men I ever knew. I don't think I ever saw him that he didn't have that mischievous look in his eye and that half grin that told you he had something up his sleeve to do or say. He truly epitomized "a life well lived". You will be missed my friend.

My heart goes out to the Maldonado Family. I have known this family since I was in the 3rd grade and I am
now 72 years old and I have very special memories of the whole family. Sammy was a very special person
and will be missed so much by his family and friends. I send my love and prayers to everyone in the family.

Sam was one of a kind, mainly because I don't think the world could handle two. He was an AMAZING cook and storyteller! I loved his jokes - even when I was the butt of one, which happened often. My sincerest sympathies to your family. Julia McDonald

We didn't know him until Tom brought Sidra into our lives, but his humor and wit made him outstanding. I will not forget the story Tom told of Sam offering him his truck in exchange for marrying Sidra! The three of them had the most amazing connection and Sam will always be alive and well in our hearts, cracking jokes and being SAM!

Keep an eye on Seamus, Sam. Please guide us as he matures...I have a feeling he will be a little Sam!

Sophia, we are so sorry for your loss. For everything there is season, a time for everything under heaven.
A time to be born and a time to die...a time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance. Ecc 3 1-8. I think your Dad would want you to always laugh and dance.
