Thanks for everything, Sam. You could make anyone's day better. You will be missed. A true St. Christopher's gentleman.

Sam was a gentleman in every sense of the word. I remember his ready smile and the kind words he always had for students at St. Christopher's. When I think of my time at St. C, Samuel was as much a part of the institution as any of the faculty. He embodied the best of St. Christopher's.

Sam was the first to take me under his wing when I arrived at STC in September of 1977. I quickly recognized the significance of the role he played in the lives of many. He was undeniably the best dressed person on campus. But, more importantly, he set a shining example for a bunch of boys who wanted to grow up to be gentlemen. We never saw him angry or impatient, and he always had a word of encouragement for anyone who stopped to talk to him. I remember him keeping me out of my first (and only) fight, as I walked to the bus stop on Grove Avenue. I didn't know who the other boy was, or why he had decided he wanted to fight me. Fortunately, Sam showed up, and made us think about what we were doing. Sam influenced generations of students, and he is truly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Sam Clark was, in short, a true St. Christopher's man in every sense. He was the kind of man that Dr. Chamberlayne would have wanted all of us to be. Few things brought me more comfort and solace during my years in the Upper School than Sam's word of the day and I never saw him without getting a smile and a kind word. There are several men, in my opinion, that really shaped my St. Christopher's experience and Sam is the first to come to mind. He will be missed by the entire community.

Sam was a warm and gentle follower of Jesus who walked in deep humility, in a consistent manner that humbled all. Like Esther of the Bible, Sam knew that God had prepared him for a special time and place. The place was St. Christopher’s school and the time was 1977 to 2011. Sam’s impact on the students and teachers at St. Christopher’s is immeasurable. We will always be grateful that God shared him with us.
We miss you deeply.

Mr. Clark was a great man, and I remember him very fondly from my days at St. Christopher's (1979-1985). He was a superb amateur photographer as well, and influenced my interest in photography. He was a genuine friend and will be very sorely missed.
Sincere condolences,

Sam will be greatly missed in the StC community. I always enjoyed the passing chat with Sam in my years there. He is one of the folks that makes StC what it is. My blessings are with his family. Thank you Sam.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, and I am so sorry for your loss. Until I met Sam, I didn't think people like him could actually exist. His words of wisdom were a constant presence at St. Chris, a source of comfort and courage for anyone and everyone who needed them. Just as amazing as the lessons he shared was the incredible example he set for each of us by his positive attitude. You could always count on Sam to greet you warmly and brighten your day. He will be greatly missed by the entire community.

To: The Family
Rev. Clark has alway been a good friend of our family. The little extra things he did will always be remembered. He was a unique person in the LORD, that was his own person. He brought us much joy.
Revelation 21:4
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

To the family of Samuel Clark:
When my family moved to Virginia from North Carolina in 1957. We were next door neighbors for several years. I grew up with Samuel and his two brothers. We had some great times. He was a nice person. I am sorry for your loss. May God bless you all. Rest in peace Samuel.

My prayers go out to all of you. In my years at St.Christopher's, a day did not go by that i did not look for Sam. He could always be counted upon to impart some wisdom; most often, it was prompted by his words for the day. Sam will be missed.

I have few words at a time like this. Sam was one of my favorite people at STC. He would always listen to me no matter how silly what I had to say was. He was a friend to all who knew him. To his family, I feel like I know you because Sam was always talking about you. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I will really miss him.
