Samuel Rush Obituary

MARION - Samuel R. Rush, of Batavia, passed away April 19, 2007, in Provena Mercy Center Hospital in Aurora.

Sam was born in Marion, the son of Gus and Myrtle (Vaughn) Rush.

He was united in marriage to Vivian Welborn on Sept. 2, 1955, in Larkin Baptist Church in Elgin.

He was retired from Burgess Norton Manufacturing in Geneva after 30 plus years of service. He was dedicated to family and friends.

Sam was very athletic. He coached Batavia little league for many years. He also enjoyed bowling and bowled in many leagues.

Samuel treasured his special times with his family and will be remembered for his loving support.

He was a faithful member of the Congregational Church of Batavia.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Gail Delaine and Jeffery Seidman of Delavan, Wis.; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Michelle Rush of Batavia; four grandchildren, A.J. and James Lee Seidman, both of Delavan, and Tara Marie and Melanie Lynne Rush, both of Batavia; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, William, Berchard and Louise, Max and Jane, and Ted and Brenda Rush; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Elizabeth Thompson and Myrtle and James Tanner; and sister-in-law, Orpha Lou Stotts and husband, Lawrence; a brother-in-law, John Welborn; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Vivian; two children, Dail Darlene and Gregory A. Rush; and his three brothers, James, Tom and Robert Rush.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2007, in Congregational Church in Batavia, with the Rev. David Fosgrover officiating. Burial will be in West Batavia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 2007, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 South Batavia Ave., Batavia, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Congregational Church of Batavia, 21 S. Batavia Avenue, Batavia, IL 60510.
