Samuel Smith Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 9, 2025.
Samuel Alexander Smith, also affectionately known as "Sam Sam" and "Professor" burst on the scene and officially introduced himself to his parents, Sean and Jennene Smith on February 1, 2025. Samuel was not by himself, but shortly after he arrived, his twin Savannah introduced herself to her parents, rounding out the Smith clan to 5 beautiful children. Their children have affectionately been known as "The Fab Five" since.

As a baby, Samuel loved to be held, loved his bottle, loved music, loved spending time with his twin, and loved a good conversation.

Then...he became a TODDLER! Samuel went from what could only be described as a monster crawler, to an avid walker, and finally a sprinter....look out Noah Lyles!

He also loved basketball. Samuel would often mimic his dad or his big sister Bella's ball handling skills...bouncing then smiling...bouncing then smiling. He enjoyed playing toy cars with his big brother Jeremiah. Although Jeremiah isn't the best at sharing, Samuel had a way of turning his frown upside down.

Samuel was also exceptionally bright; hence the name, "The Professor." During daily homework time, Samuel would not rest until he had a pencil and paper, fervently writing his circles and squiggly lines.

Samuel's vocabulary was top tier. He spoke words with clarity and conviction, could use two and three word phrases to express himself, and would often try to give commands to the adults in his life. The question commonly asked to Samuel was, "What did you just say?"This was always followed by a coy grin and laugh from Samuel as to say, "You heard me!"

Samuel loved his siblings. From his big sister Bella's spins and twirls, to his middle sister Juda's made-up stories, to the howls of his big brother, Jeremiah, and finally the daily adventures with his twin friend, Savannah. Samuel's life was filled with a lot of laughter and love. (Now if you weren't family or a familiar face, he more than likely gave you the "stank face," but when he warmed up, his light and personality was simply infectious).

August 29, 2025....Sam was called home. It was sudden, unexpected, and is still hard to digest. His family has found comfort in knowing that he is smiling big and hitting eternal backflips with our Heavenly Father.

Samuel leaves behind his mother and Father (Sean and Jennene Smith, IN) siblings, (Bella, Juda, Jeremiah, and Savannah Smith, IN) grandparents ( Dianna Smith, IN., Sylvester Worthman, AZ., Pastors Joseph and Cheryl Anthony III, IL) aunts and uncles( Ashley Smith, IN, Aianna Hodges, Peyton Harris, IL., Xavier Hammick, AZ., Stephen Hammick, IL., Joslyn (Adam) Sandifer, IL., Joseph (Talisha) Anthony, IV.,TX., Joya (Oliver) Keys, IL., Janell (Lamont) Brown, MO. He also leaves a host of cousins, great aunts and uncles, church family, and close outside community.
