Samuel Williams Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 17, 2025.
Reno - Sam T. Williams was born in Caldwell, Idaho, to Robert (Bob) and Margaret Williams on December 14, 1948. Sam graduated from Caldwell High and attended Boise State and UNR. His family moved to Elko in 1967 where he met Gayla Mitchell. They were married in 1972 and welcomed their son Mitch in 1979.

Sam was a great storyteller and "jokester." His sense of humor and many key expressions will be remembered by friends and family. Family time was always very important to him and he enjoyed being with and helping his grandson, Ben.

Sam loved to hunt, camp and play golf. He loved being out in the Nevada deserts, mountains, rivers and ranches. He especially loved the Pine Forest Ranges, Double H Mountains, Kings River Valley, Trinity Range and the Eugene's. His favorite golfing community was Plumas Pines in Graeagle, where he lived six months of the year for 18 years.

He worked for UPS, Milne and Yellow Freight and delivered locally, retiring in 2006.

He is survived by his wife Gayla, son Mitch, grandson Ben, brother Jake, sister Bonnie, and many special cousins, nieces, nephews, and great friends. His parents and sister Olivia preceded him in death.

The family will be holding a Celebration of Life on Friday, September 26th, from 4 pm - 7 pm, at the Bartley Ranch Regional Park, in the Western Heritage Interpretive Center.
