Sandra Becker Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 31, 2024.
Sandra Lotz Becker (Sandy), a resident of Fairfax, VA (formerly of Abington, PA), passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024, at the age of 58.

Sandy was born on November 15, 1966 in Philadelphia to the late Robert and Suzanne (née Wells) Lotz. She was an incredible mother to sons Eric and Andrew, the loves of her life. She is also survived by her beloved sisters Donna (Michael) Weber, and Christina (Anthony) Sivo, and "favorite" nieces and nephews Bailey, Julie, Logan, Peyton, Joseph, and Matthew.

Sandy lived with purpose, filling the world around her with love, laughter, and always a touch of purple. She was a lifelong learner and earned a Doctorate of Education in Human and Organizational Learning from The George Washington University. She mastered the role of "solution architect," able to creatively problem-solve any challenge.

Even in the face of her cancer diagnosis, Sandy's quick wit, generosity, and curiosity brought light to everyone she knew. She embraced life fully, "doing the thing" with grounded hope - finding joy in shopping trips, lively roundtable conversations on Long Beach Island, NJ, and even a trip to Spain in her final months. She cherished time with her sisters, cousins, and lifelong friends, whom she loved dearly.

Above all, Sandy's greatest pride was being mom to Eric and Andrew. She adored listening to their music, cheering at baseball and hockey games, and watching them grow into remarkable young men. Her legacy lives on in them, and in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know her.

A memorial service will be held at Burke Presbyterian Church, located at 5690 Oak Leather Dr, Burke, VA, on Friday, January 10, 2025, at 11 a.m. Friends and family are invited to greet the family starting at 10:15 a.m. and are encouraged to wear purple, her favorite color. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to METAvivor to support metastatic breast cancer research and education at www.metavivor.org (http://www.metavivor.org/).

Mary & I want to express our condolences to all of Sandy's family and friends. We only knew Sandy through our daughter and son-in-law Lara and Chris, but we remember her as a bright vivacious woman and a kind loving mother. As Sandy, herself, would say she was our favorite son-in-law's sister-in-law named Sandy. Bob & Mary Hentz

Sandy was a kind smart person with many friends, and I feel blessed to have known her from High School.
I am not surprised at how accomplished she had grown to,
and the amazing legacy she leaves behind. My deepest condolences to her many friends, and her dear children and family. Prayers are with you, and may Sandy, a very special person, rest in peace always.

She was a real team player. Excellent defense woman on our Abington High field hockey team. The sense of humor!!! She was kind to us underclass women on the field, in practice and on the bus!

Sandy was such a wonderful person and great baseball Mom. She always had kind word or a funny joke to tell in the stands. She truly made everyone around her smile. We send our deepest condolences to Andrew and Eric and her family. Sandy will be greatly missed.

We both loved purple. We got a kick out of how much similar things we got for Eric and Tyler´s dorm room. She was such a kind person who took good care of Ty when he visited. We also had a wonderful time last year in the city. I will miss her. Lisa

Remembering Sandy (who leaves behind such a legacy of vitality in spite of her illness) and sending love to her sisters, nieces, nephews, and her sons. She was surely heartened by knowing that you all would be a great comfort to one another as you grieve her passing.
