Agatha, nee Roberts

Born in Plainfield, NJ on August 30, 1923, died October 29, 2011 in Moscow, ID. She spent her formative years in Cumberland, MD and Narrows, VA. She graduated from Hollins College near Roanoke, VA in 1944 with a B.S. in Biology. After graduation she joined her family in Greenwich, CT and worked at American Cyanamid where she
ran the world's first infra-red spectrophotometer. She met and married James Leslie Johnson on September 22, 1945. After he completed
his Ph.D. in chemistry at the University of Illinois in 1949, they both joined the Upjohn Company. She and Jim lived in and around Kalamazoo, MI for 61 years, the last 48 years in a home on Atwater Pond
in Texas Township. She volunteered at the Nature Center and read to visually impaired students at Western Michigan University. She enjoyed family, friends, cats, observing nature, and travel, especially
to snorkel in the Caribbean. Her husband and son, Gilbert C. Johnson preceded her in death. She is survived by
her son, James B. (Ding) Johnson of Moscow, ID; her granddaughters, Shannon Villella and Heather Johnson; and great grandson, Jason Villella, all of southern California. Online condolences may be sent to Short's Funeral Chapel, Moscow, ID at www.shortsfuneralchapel.net.
